Knowing more than one language is awesome, but learning how to speak new language is difficult. This is why a lot of people are very reluctant in learning new language. There are 5 benefits of knowing a lot of languages:

This skill enhances your ability in solving problems. Research shows that multi-lingual people score better in subjects such as: math and vocabulary.

For monolingual adults, mean age for dementia is 71.4 years old. For adults that speak two or more languages, their mean age for dementia is 75.5 years old. Studies also shows that factors such as: income level, education level and physical health also contributes.

Research shows, that our memory capability increases when we start learning new language. Multilinguals finds that remembering shopping list easier than monolinguals.

When you know how to speak more languages, you don’t need to be afraid with questions like “do they speak English there?” or “how am I going to explain myself there?” We can confidently go into a country and able to experience things that only locals able to experience.

Learning language means that you also learn their culture and their mindset. This is actually very true. When I first started learn Chinese, I am not only learning technical things such as: writing, speaking, reading and listening, but also their culture.

A lot of my friends that only speak one language, used to be very critical about cultural differences. But once they understand, they completely changed.
